I’m Caitlin St. Romain, the face behind Opal Vintage Co. By day, I’m the co-founder of a creative agency where I spend my time designing and building websites. But evenings and weekends? That’s when I dive into my favorite pastime — treasure hunting through thrift shops, estate sales, and garage sales in search of unique vintage finds. At home, my husband John and I share life with one sweet pup and two mischievous cats. He’s also my unofficial “metal man,” taking charge of cleaning and polishing brass, silver, and pewter pieces before they head out to new homes.
I’ve always been an old soul — call me old-fashioned, but I find so much joy in things that tell a story. My love of vintage began with vinyl records, whose rich, imperfect sound carries a warmth that modern technology can’t quite match. That same appreciation for craftsmanship and character soon grew into a love of decor and the timeless charm of well-worn things. Our home has become a reflection of that love, and I’m so happy to share that passion with you.
The name Opal comes from my birthstone. I’m an October baby and have always been enchanted by opals. No two are ever the same, each shifting with light and color in its own way. To me, they’re the epitome of a timeless gem: beautiful, rare, and endlessly unique. That spirit is what I see in vintage pieces as well: each one distinctive, with its own beauty that sets it apart.
